This week I had a meeting with my boss for a handover. Also, I had a few nice conversations, and worked more on my business. After some difficulties in the beginning, the week went quite well.
Recap: What has happened this week?
This week started with being super nervous. On Wednesday, I was meeting my boss for a handover of the things I was doing. I don’t know why, but it made me quite nervous. However, the meeting went quite well, I would say. Once the meeting was over, I felt relieved and could enjoy the pleasant, warm weather (last few days of late summer: Fall is just around the corner).
Another enjoyable moment was meeting the girlfriend of my colleague, who I have been working with over the last two and a half years. They’re both from Bangladesh, and she just moved to Germany as well. Was a nice conversation with her.
While I was sitting with my colleague and his girlfriend in the café, they were telling me about their plans to go to Copenhagen. They asked me for some advice on what to do. Just before that, though, I heard a girl at the table next to us talking about living in Copenhagen. So I went over to her and asked her if she maybe knows more about the city. Turns out, she used to live there. And she was delighted to give us lots of good advice about Copenhagen.
On Saturday, when I was in the café again, I met a football player who just changed the team beginning of this season. Had enjoyable, quick conversations with him before, and he seems to be a very nice guy. This weekend he came back to Kiel for a quick vacation. I was surprised he remembered me, and we had a quick chat, which I enjoyed.
Furthermore, in the morning, I spontaneously drove my neighbor next door to Hamburg because the trains were not driving for some reason. Enjoyed the conversation with her as well.
Reflection: How did I do this week?
In general, I think I did quite well. Besides being nervous about the meeting with my boss, I feel more relaxed about the next chapter. Have been able to work on my stuff, and I’m very motivated. I even started working on a way that clients can call me, although I’m terrified of calls. Starting to work on this makes me feel better, though.
Gratitude: What am I grateful for?
This week I’m grateful for the conversations I had: The girlfriend of my colleague, that girl who told us about Copenhagen, and the quick conversation with the football player.
Besides that, I’m grateful for the warm weather. It’s probably the last time this year because next week it will start to get colder and rainy.
Challenges: What was my greatest challenge this week?
The greatest challenge was definitely the meeting with my boss. I don’t understand why it made me so nervous, but I managed to have a constructive meeting. Other than that, it’s still a challenge for me to motivate myself after work, to continue working on my stuff. However, this should be the last time I write this because next week on Wednesday will be my last day of work. Thereafter, I’ll be on my own full-time again.
Learnings: What did I learn?
I learned not to overthink situations: The meeting with my boss, which went better than I expected, or talking to as random person in. the café, asking for advice on what to do in Copenhagen. I can’t guarantee to myself that I won’t overthink situations in the future. But every time it goes well brings me a step closer to trusting myself and the process a bit more. Don’t be so scared, Natha!
Action: What are my 1 to 2 main goals this week?
My main goal will be working on my own business. Starting Thursday, I’m free from the job. Therefore, I have to make sure, to not end up in bed all time, like last time. The goal is to still go to the café, and put all effort into my business.
