This week I had my last day on the job, which I quit. Now I’m on vacation (working on my business of course), before on October 1st, the next chapter officially starts: I’m self-employed again.

Recap: What has happened this week?

Wednesday has been my last day on the job, which I quit a few weeks ago. The last days at work have been tedious, as there was not a lot to do. Showed my colleagues some things I have been working on, and on my last day I went for lunch with my supervisor.

Means on Thursday, I was working my business the whole day. While it was difficult to get out of bed in the morning (so cold outside!), I enjoyed being able to focus on my stuff. The day started with a surprise when I opened my emails. I received a message from someone who is interested in a new website.

I do not believe in coincidences. For me, that email is like “a sign from the universe” (or whatever you want to call it), that I’m doing the right thing. I do not know yet if we will work together, but it gave me a big confidence boost. We met on the same day in the café, had a nice conversation, and it went quite well. Now I’m working on a proposal. Because the request came very unexpected, I’m not prepared for a proposal yet – at least not on the level I want. I’m still happy this happened, though!

Reflection: How did I do this week?

In general, the week went quite well. As mentioned above, at work it was boring. However, especially after that unexpected email, I’m more confident and feel very well. Motivation is on a high level now!

What made me sorrowful, though, is leaving my colleagues. I had a great time with them, and I certainly will miss working with them. Who knows where our paths will cross again.

Gratitude: What am I grateful for?

I’m grateful to take the risk of leaving my job. I believe this is the right step towards my goals in life.  Moreover, I’m truly grateful for the request by the potential client. Never saw that coming – and yet, it did.

Besides that, I’m grateful for the sun, especially towards the end of the week. It’s so cold outside, in the sun it’s still nice, though.

Challenges: What was my greatest challenge this week?

The greatest challenge is, of course, to not get lazy, and to keep waking up early, getting pout of bed, and start working. I know I can do it! It’s not straightforward (especially now that it’s cold outside, and it’s warm under my blanket), I have to be disciplined, though.

Learnings: What did I learn?

I learned that I’m on the right way. To trust life and how it goes. Everything happens for a reason, and quite spontaneously quitting my job without a proper backup plan, also happened for a reason.

Action: What are my 1 to 2 main goals this week?

I will be important to keep up the pace of work. Furthermore, I still have to work on getting out of my comfort zone, to get new clients. It will not always be like this week, that random people show up and want to work with me. I have to find them myself because no one knows of me yet. I can do it!

Let’s talk about it!

You are very welcome to take part in a meaningful conversation in the comment section below. But please remember, this website is kind of my digital living room. And because of that there is one simple rule: be nice to each other!
